"Whether we and our politicians know it or not, Nature is party to all our deals and decisions, and she has more votes, a longer memory, and a sterner sense of justice than we do. - Wendell Barry

Turbulence was composed during the Composing in the Wilderness Workshop in Denali National Park that I attended in the summer 2017. It was premiered by the New York based contemporary music ensemble Corvus as part of the Denali Music Festival. The title refers to the two meanings of the word turbulence: the swirling motion of water and the turbulent age in which we live. Beauty and conflict go hand in hand. As stewards of the Lands, we are charged with the tremendous and daunting responsibility to protect these special places.
